We hold a number of clinics at both Minafon Surgery and Derwendeg Medical Centre.  Please telephone your registered surgery for more information about our clinics.

Some services are provided at our main surgery in Kidwelly, please contact reception to find out more.

All our clinics are by appointment only.  Please telephone to book.

Respiratory Clinic

There are a number of respiratory clinics throughout the week, including a clinic in Derwendeg Medical Centre.  Patients with COPD or Asthma will be invited to an annual review and it is important that you make every effort to arrange an appointment as soon as you are invited.

Diabetic Clinic

Diabetic clinics are available weekly.  You will usually receive a letter inviting you to attend for review, which consists of two separate appointments – the first with a Health Care Assistant for a foot check and blood test, followed by an appointment about 1 week later with the Diabetic Nurse.

Pre-Diabetic Clinic

Pre-diabetic clinics are available weekly.  You will usually be invited by letter to make an appointment to attend pre-diabetic clinic, most often as the result of a recent blood test.

Phlebotomist

Taking blood for testing will be done by appointment only.  Due to very high demand for phlebotomy appointments, we ask patients who are willing and have transport to have their blood taken in Glangwili Hospital or the Anticoch Centre in Llanelli.  This helps us to be able to offer appointments for urgent blood tests at the surgery when they are needed.

MSK Advanced Practitioner and Physiotherapy

Regular clinics are available at both Minafon and Derwendeg surgeries.  The MSK Advanced Practitioner is responsible for making onward referrals to the hospital and is the first line clinician for musculoskeletal problems.

Well Baby Immunisations & Assessments

A Health Visitor and Doctor run this clinic on a weekly basis. Attendance is by appointment only.

Social Prescribing Clinic

Held weekly by appointment only.  Patients can self-refer to the Social Prescriber for help with accessing activities, groups and services that improve their health and wellbeing.

Travel Clinic

Please visit our Travel Vaccinations page and please complete a travel risk assessment form prior to your meeting, you can also get a copy from the surgery.

The Practice Nurses will offer travel health advice and vaccinations.  You will need to be seen by the Practice Nurse at least 8 weeks before you travel.  There may be a charge for this service and the nurse will be able to discuss this with you at your appointment.
