GP Appointments
Call Minafon (Kidwelly) surgery - 01554 890234
The surgery offers a blend of pre-bookable face-to-face and telephone appointments with a GP, Physician Associate and Advanced Nurse Practitioner during morning and afternoon surgeries. Our reception team are trained Care Navigators who will try to offer you the right type of appointment with the right clinician within an appropriate timeframe, using guidelines designed by our doctors. Please help them do this by giving them a brief description of your problem when you call. If our Care Navigators are unable to offer you a suitable appointment within the guidelines set out by our doctors, they will ask a member of the clinical team for advice and will get back to you.
Pre-bookable Telephone Appointment
This kind of appointment is most appropriate if you need to discuss a routine or ongoing issue, for a follow up to a recent face to face consultation, to review your medication, or for a routine consultation about results or hospital letters, for example.
We will not be able to give you a specific appointment time, but we will do our best to indicate whether the doctor is likely to call in the morning or afternoon. We would ask that you keep your phone with you until the doctor calls. The doctor will make 3 attempts to call you but if you miss them, it is the same as missing an appointment, and you will need to contact the surgery again to arrange another appointment which may not be for several days.
Pre-bookable Face-to-Face Appointment
This kind of appointment is likely to be offered if your problem is a routine ongoing issue and the doctor is likely to need to examine or assess you, or if speaking on the telephone is not practical or easy for you, for example.
Same Day and Next Day Appointments
If your problem is acute and/or it needs to be dealt with straight away we will do our best to offer you a Same Day or Next Day appointment, either by telephone or face to face as appropriate.
Patients Under 16 years of age
Any children under 16 years of age who have an acute condition, will be offered a same-day consultation with a GP.
Non - Urgent Consultations with eConsult
An online system for non-urgent consultations. These will normally be responded to by 6.30 pm the following day after submission. They are NOT for urgent/acute conditions, and not for children under 16. The response to an eConsult will usually be by email. Click on the eConsult picture below for further information.
Non-GP Appointments
Appointments with other clinicians e.g. Practice Nurse, Advanced Physiotherapist, Phlebotomist are also pre-bookable.
Please call the Practice anytime Monday – Friday, but if possible, please avoid calling between 8.00 to 10.00 when the lines tend to be very busy.
